PSAPP, Stephen Jerzak

Hi there, I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season. The first band I'm going to suggest is called PSAPP, they're really cool but not something I'd typically listen too. It's very instrumental but give it a listen. This is PSAPP's song Tricycle:

The next is Stephen Jerzak's song Party Girl, I like his voice. and the song is a bit funny.

Hi so the first song is by Sherwood called "For the Longest Time" it has this cool upbeat feeling to it.

The next song is a new song by the Plain White T's called "Boomerang" idk I think it's pretty catchy.

The next one is by X & Hell called "Shades Come Off" it's kind of a different sound than the first two songs.

Ingrid Michaelson, Shiny Toy Guns, Love and Other Drugs

Hey there,
Here's a really awesome cover of Radiohead's "Creep" done by Ingrid Michaelson. Idk I think its awesome.

The next song is "Le Disko" by Shiny Toy Guns, they have some really cool, interesting and weird songs.

And i know you've all probably have seen this trailer already but I recently saw Love and Other Drugs with Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal and I thought it was amazing. The movie has everything, comedy, romance, sadness. Yes there is a lot of sex so be forewarned but idk i think it works with the film-- Just dont go see it with your family haha.

Good Charlotte, Bo Burnham

Hey there, hope everyone is has a great thanksgiving next week. I personally can't wait for christmas music to be okay to play lol!

To start out, I'm sure you've all heard of the band Good Charlotte, they came out with a new album called Cardiology a couple weeks ago, and I personally love it. I'm was really shocked because their last album kind of sucked. Well anyway my favorite from the album so far is "1979."

So I thought I'd introduce you to a comedian I really like, he does talk about some pretty controversial stuff but idk I find him hilarious. The nice thing about his stuff is that its comedy in music and he just does a lot of really cool play on words kind of material. His comedy special on Comedy Central is called Words, Words, Words and you should check it out. Here is one of his songs, called Words, Words, Words.

Sara Bareilles

Soo I usually probably won't feature someone as well known as i'm about to right now but she's so amazing i can't really help my self from featuring her. Sara Bareilles' new album just came out this week, and it is AMAZING. I really can't stress it enough. haha The song i'm going to feature is Kaleidoscope Heart, which just so happens to be the album title as well. This song is just really beautiful and It reminds me of like an a cappella group singing.

Cee Lo Green, The Weepies

Hey, so looking through my blog I've realized that so far I've mostly only done music recommendations. And I'm hoping to change that soon, I'm almost done with this really awesome book. Soo look forward to that! lol that being said in this post I'm just going to do music again but they are a bit different from the other songs I've put on this blog.

Well anyway about what's going on in my life. I'm still pretty much just trying to adjust to being in college and away from home and everything. I really miss my family, dogs and friends. It is also really hard to adjust to living with someone constantly. I'm super glad my roommate and I get along really well. It'd just be nice to like have time to be alone sometimes. Not to bash her, because she's awesome, but sometimes you just need to be alone lol.

Enough about me, heres a new good song that I really like. It's just such an awesomely funky sound. Its a super fun song and I hope you enjoy it. It's called "Fuck You" by Cee Lo Green. (the song has some harsh language.) I really like this song, it has funny lyrics and a great groove to it.

the next song is by a band you may know, called The Weepies who are incredible. Their new album just came out yesterday and it's called "Be My Thrill" And I'm actually going to feature the song "Be My Thrill" from that album. It is a lot more up-beat than most of their other songs and It's soo awesome. Some other really good songs by them are: "World Spins Madly On," "Stars," and "Please Speak Well of Me."

Never Shout Never, Todd Carey

Hello there! So college so far has been super weird. I've been graced with a wonderful roommate. The problem is that we both don't really know anyone going here! blehh so its been kind of weird. We've been trying to meet people but it's kind of a slow process. I hope we start making friends and things soon. My classes seem okay, i have two really hard ones and three pretty easy ones so I think I'll be able to handle it. Idk I think that's enough about me.

Since I haven't posted in awhile I think i'll do two songs today. lol The first one is by a really unique artist called Never Shout Never. His songs are super cute and fun and just put you in a really good mood really fast. The song is called "This shit gets old" and i hope you like it! Some other great songs by him are "On the Brightside" and "Did it hurt?"

The next song is by Todd Carey who I don't actually know very much about but I love the song i'm going to share. It's called "Ain't Got Love." It has this like great groove to it, but it's still kind of Pop-y. I really like the feel of this song. :)

Hey Monday

Hello there, so i've basically finished packing all my things for school. It's getting super weird now because most of my friends have already left.. :( but i'm excited to leave in ONE day :) I might not be posting for a few days due to moving in and everything.

The song for today is by the band Hey Monday who just came out with a stellar small album called Beneath it All. The song I picked is "Wish You Were Here" It's just super catchy. Some other good songs by them are "6 Months" and "Obvious."

Two favorites

Today's song is from another one of my absolute favorite artists, Missy Higgins, who has such a unique sound. I recommend any of her albums-- they are all wonderful. This song is called "Steer" and she talks for the first 40 seconds of the video so if you want you can skip ahead to that. Some other songs that are great by her are "Nightminds," "Warm Whispers," "Peachy," and "Scars."

Another one of my favorite artists is Marc Broussard, who has an amazing voice. This song is called "Let Me Leave." Some other great songs by him are "Gavin's Song," "The Beauty of Who You Are," and "Home." His album Carencro is outstanding.

A movie for my fellow dorks

Last night I went to see Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. And before seeing the movie I didn't really think it was going to be that great, I guess I just couldn't imagine Michael Cera being anything but this innocent awkward kid. But the face that he was that awkward guy and was still kicking ass made it even funnier. The movie was absolutely awesome, and hilarious. I really recommend to see it if you play video games, love some rockin music, and can enjoy a bit love story. hah But I also think that even if you don't really understand all the video game references you'll still enjoy the movie.

One of my songs if from one of my favorite artists Kina Grannis, she is crazyyy awesome. You should check out her channel which i've linked over there ----> She has a ton of great covers and performs all of her videos live. Her voice is amazing and she's a great song writer.  The song I'm featuring is called "Message From Your Heart" which is one of my favorites on her album Stairwells, which is available on iTunes. Hope you enjoy it, I think it's a beautiful song.

I think that is it for today. Thank all of you who have start to follow me and thank you all for the comments. This blog thing is starting to turn out to be really fun! I started packing today for school and now i only have four days. I'm super excited. Let me know what you think of Scott Pilgrim if you go see it, and let me know what you think of Kina Grannis :)
P.S. idk why youtube is being weird but i'm sorry the videos are super wide. :/

Finally, a female artist! :)

Well, today i actually started packing my things. It is starting to get really real-- I leave for school in six days! I'm finally starting to feel ready for it too.

For some suggestions today I thought I'd recommend a great female artist. I've realized that I listen to mostly male bands, which I had never noticed till I started this whole blog thing haha. Elisa is a wonderful artist and the song I'm going to introduce is called "The Waves." If you like the song some other good songs by Elisa are "Dancing" and "Rock Your Soul." She's really good at the power notes, her songs are super emotional, and she really has an outstanding voice.

The next artist is Dave Barnes, who also has a spectacular voice. Now normally I wouldn't use a live video because either the artist sucks live, or the crowd is too loud. But i've decided to post this live version of "Grace's Amazing Hands;" I really love this song and Dave Barnes does a great job live, plus there aren't any good videos of the recorded version. (Be forewarned that there is a pretty decently long guitar solo). Dave Barnes' EP "Three, Then Four" is absolutely fantastic, I encourage you to check it out. Another good song by him that is not on that EP is "God Gave Me You." And if you like him I'd recommend checking out Marc Broussard, who I'll probably feature on here at some point because he is also equally amazing. Enjoy :)

As always let me know what you think of these songs :)

Hi sorry I haven't posted in a while

Hi! So I've been lame and I thought that when I went on vacation I was going to have access to a computer... obviously I was wrong haha. I just got back from visiting relatives who live in Boston and met up with my cousin and uncle from Australia. It was a great trip, I love visiting family. :)

Also the college countdown will start with this post! I only have EIGHT days till I leave for school. It's actually starting to hit me now! I can't believe it, I don't feel like I should be this old. To make it all the more nerve wracking I'm not anywhere close to being ready or packed or anything. Now on to some suggestions:

"You Make it Real" by James Morrison. This song has wonderful vocals and some really interesting lyrics. All of the videos with lyrics had poor sound quality so I'm going to post them below the video. Some other great songs by James Morrison are "The Letter" and "This Boy."

definitely hope to post more than I have been. Let me know what you think of the song!

There's so much craziness, surrounding me
There's so much going on, it gets hard to breathe
When all my faith has gone, you bring it back to me
You make it real for me

When I'm not sure of, my priorities
When I've lost site of, where I'm meant to be
Like holy water, washing over me
You make it real for me

And I'm running to you baby
You are the only one who saved me
That's why I've been missing you lately
Cause you make it real for me

When my head is strong, but my heart is weak
I'm full of arrogance, and uncertainty
But I can find the words, you teach my heart to speak
You make it real for me, yeah

And I'm running to you baby
Cause you are the only one who saved me
That's why I've been missing you lately
Cause you make it real for me

Everybodies talking in words
I don't understand
You got to be the only one
Who knows just who I am
Your shinin in the distance
I hope I can make it through
Cause the only place
That I want to be
Is right back home with you

I guess there's so much more
I have to learn
But if you're here with me
I know which way to turn
You always give me somewhere,
Somewhere I can learn
You make it real for me

And I'm running to you baby
Cause you are the only one who saved me
That's why I've been missing you lately
Cause you make it real for me

You make it real for me

So.. I guess I should get started..

The thing I absolutely love about music is that there is always a song that fits the mood you're in, no matter what. I wish I could write songs, I'm really impressed by those who can. Well, right now I'm really in to some songs by this band named Brighten, especially their song "Where We Belong"- Which you can hear and see the lyrics of here:

I really love the guitar part in this song, it has a unique quality to it.

So I've recently finished reading a book called The Magicians by Lev Grossman. Which is a fantasy novel about a 17 year old guy who gets accepted to a college for magicians called Brakebills. This books was super interesting to me because it doesn't copy Harry Potter like I thought it would. The Magicians has it's own almost gloomy feel to it, it's about a normal boy dealing with growing up and going off to college with the added twist of the complications of being able to do magic. Another thing I love about this book is that the way magic works is so much different than it is normally portrayed in books. Performing magic takes effort and a clear mind, and sometimes it just doesn't work when you need it to. Lev Grossman also puts in little shout-outs to books like the Harry Potter Series and the Chronicles of Narnia. This book is filled with magic, adventure, love, lust, and foul language. The Magicians is like Harry Potter mixed with Narnia and is focused at a more mature audience. This book was amazing and I was hardly able to put it down.

Of course my blog posts aren't going to be like this every time. I hope to usually just suggest a new book, movie, song or tv show and explain what I like about it. I'd also love to hear from other people about books, songs, etc that they like. Lastly, I think it would be awesome to have this be a place for people to discuss these works, like the crazy ending of inception: did he really escape to reality or is he still stuck in limbo? Or even just a place to discuss how stoked we all are for Harry Potter and the Deahtly Hallows Part 1 to come out! haha. Well, thanks for reading this horrendously long post.
